A new revolutionary & simple solution for sun protection
We discovered this great product for sun protection! As I have grown up in Australia, as well as California and Texas, skin cancer is always a concern to me.
Despite of the 20+ year “slip-slop-slap” campaign in Australia, much of the Australian population remains unprotected against sun damage, even they know that skin cancer is probably reaching an epidemic level in Australia already.
What really amazes me is when I moved to USA, there is even less people even care about sun protection, not even wearing a hat or applying any sun lotions to protect them.
There is also a common misconception that only elder people will face the risk of skin cancer, in fact, especially in Australia, skin cancer has been occurred as young as 14 years old, and some have died at age of early 20s from skin cancer.
At the same time, we have noticed the cost for sun lotions is also rising, sun lotions are not cheap these days, and as you need to re-apply every few hours, a tube of sun lotion can disappear pretty quickly within a week.
We have noticed that during recession; many parents have simply forgotten about sun protection; regard them as unnecessary cost; which is actually increasing health risks to children and also adults themselves.
We were in San Diego for a week for holiday, and we used up 2 tubes pretty quickly, which costed us around US$30.00, not cheap imagine you live in California, Florida or Australia that has a summer length of 6 months basically!
That adds to around US$50 to US$60 just on sun lotions each month, and this can add up to US$200 to US$300 a year just on sun lotions before you even notice it.
There are alternatives out there
Additionally, sun lotions are also quite uncomfortable for kids (and adults), they are sticky, and often have bad odour. Kids don’t like them; I have to persuade my kids 3 or 4 times each morning to apply them.
And they only last for a few hours, my kids go to kindergartens and pre-schools, some teachers are kind enough to re-apply them for children, but often, they do not care.
Then we found this US brand Sunny Sleevez; which I thought it’s a really smart idea. How it works is quite simple, yet, very effective - they are like 2 separate pieces of sleeves with sun protection materials applied in the fabric; which means these “sleevezes” are already fully protected against sun damage, the manufacturer suggests it provides protection equivalent to SPF 50+, which actually provides more protection than most sun lotions which are typically SPF 30.
Advantages in Using SunnySleevez
As we have 2 children ourselves; we have bought 4 pieces for us; 2 for the kids; and 2 for adults; SunnySleevez has the following advantages:
1. No more messy & sticky hands from sun lotions; we can just put them on and go out for a walk; and simply take them off when you come home.
2. Easy to wash, it is very easy to wash and rinse just like a T-Shirt, I thought this is a great idea; as it also means water conservation.
3. No allergy, we know many children actually suffer skin allergy from certain sun lotions; this will not happen if using SunnySleevez
4. Cost-effective; when adding up the cost, it is much cheaper compare to use sun lotions; the cost benefit is about 1:10
5. SP50 is sufficient for sun protection; and offers more protection than most sun lotions on market
6. Designs, SunnySleevez also makes interesting patterns and designs; some families have bought identical sleevez; therefore, this can also be a fashion statement!
7. Comfortable; unlike long-sleeve shirts which also offer some sun protections; it is much more comfortable wearing SunnySleevez; the materials are made with breathable fabric; and you can wear them in both dry & humid conditions.
This is why SunnySleevez is increasingly becoming popular around the world; and it is already sold to customers in USA, Australia, SE Asia and South America; as global warming continues to become a major climate change problem; skin cancer rate is only likely to increase much further in years to come. In Australia, for instance, the Government has already claimed skin cancer as an epidemic level and it is the most lethal cancer in Australia.
